A wanted man was arrested Friday afternoon after Allegheny County sheriff's deputies said they caught him breaking into a judge's car.
Lt. Jack Kearney of the Allegheny County sheriff's office said Robert Foltz Jr., 34, of Harrisburg, appeared to be under the influence of something "very strong" when deputies, acting on a tip from a judge, spotted him in a downtown parking lot with Listerine mouth wash and items stolen from a judge's car.
Mr. Foltz tussled with deputies, assaulting one and attempting to assault another, Lt. Kearney said. He refused to move and had to be carried inside the courthouse where he lay on the ground, kicking and banging his head on the marble floor, the lieutenant said.
Medics strapped him to a gurney and took him to a Pittsburgh hospital. They plan to take him to the Allegheny County Jail.
Lt. Kearney said Mr. Foltz will face charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and public intoxication for Friday's incident. He was wanted on a bench warrant stemming from an aggravated assault charge in Mifflin County in central Pennsylvania.
The lieutenant said Mr. Foltz told deputies he is homeless and was staying in the city with Occupy Pittsburgh. The protesters do not keep a roster of group members, making it hard to track their affiliates.
