Business Notes

• G3 Communications said it has increased its year-over-year revenue by

120 percent and is on pace for triple digit growth in 2010. The company's customer base has

increased by more than 90 percent year-over-year, through the second quarter. G3

Communications and its divisions, Retail TouchPoints, DemandGen Report and Demand Creation Specialists, continue to see substantial growth, based largely on its focus on using web 2.0 channels and tactics to connect buyers and sellers. In addition to its revenue growth, each of the G3 Communications brands have substantially raised their profile within their specific markets: Retail TouchPoints served as the official media partner for the recent CRMC Conference in Chicago and is now feeding the content engine for the CRMC newsletter; Retail TouchPoints has been named the official media partner for the IBM Retail User Group; and DemandGen Report was recently featured as a lead presenter as part of the DemandGen Academy

during a session on "Deploying, Measuring and Optimizing Digital Media For End-to-End Engagement," and presented at the Sales 2.0 conference in Boston on June 28, 2010.

• The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine recently established a Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery dedicated to using advanced diagnostic, surgical and medical techniques to treat diseases and disorders of the heart, lung and esophagus at a number of UPMC tertiary care hospitals. The department will expand upon the clinical, academic and research accomplishments of the Heart, Lung and Esophageal Surgery Institute, which will remain within it. The department is made up of the Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery and the Division of Cardiac Surgery, which has sections in adult cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic transplantation and pediatric cardiothoracic surgery.

• NAI Pittsburgh Commercial and Coldwell Banker Commercial announced the sale of Heritage Meadows Apartments for $2,250,000. Heritage Meadows is a 36 unit apartment complex in Peters Township. John Adair of Coldwell Banker and Gregg Broujos and Luke Hingson of NAI Pittsburgh Commercial represented the sellers. The buyer is Heritage Meadows Partners L.P, a local investor syndication.

• dck worldwide and Oakview Construction, Inc. said dck acquired Oakview Construction, Inc. through an asset purchase and formed Oakview dck, LLC. This acquisition is a part of dck worldwide's effort to focus the organization in markets that have significant growth. Oakview dck unites Oakview's geographic presence, strong industry reputation, and experience with dck's strategy to expand its market share into complementary markets.

Grants/loans

Citizens Bank and WPXI-TV named RiverQuest as its third quarter Champion in Action under the category of environmental impact. RiverQuest, which connects people to their environment through river education experiences, received a $25,000 grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation, and extensive volunteer and promotional support from Citizens Bank, WPXI-TV and Pittsburgh Cares. Family House, Inc. received a $10,000 grant from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation in recognition of financial representative Peter Leone Jr.'s outstanding volunteer involvement as part of the company's 16th annual national Community Service Award program. Mr. Leone is a representative with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network - Pittsburgh. Mr. Leone is one of 25 financial representatives being recognized as top volunteers. Through the program funded by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation, more than $275,000 will be donated this year to various nonprofit organizations nationwide.

• Neighborhood Legal Services Association received the 2010 Emil Gumpert Award from the American College of Trial Lawyers. The award, carrying a $50,000 prize, recognizes the success of NLSA's Older & Wiser project-a special program that is co-sponsored by state legislators serving Southwestern Pennsylvania, which delivers a series of civil law seminars, at no cost, to the elderly and their families. The program is a series of two-hour legal educational seminars staffed by volunteer private bar attorneys.
