Rescuers were working to retrieve a car as they searched for possible occupants today from the Shenango River in Pulaski, Lawrence County.

Emergency dispatchers said a caller reported the vehicle in the river at 11:30 a.m.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene within minutes.

It was not clear whether anyone had been in the car when it went into the water.

Township police are investigating.
