State troopers seized more than 100 grams of raw heroin after pulling a car over on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Saturday night near Somerset.
The driver, Robin Loren Turner, 50, of Stowe, and her passenger, Mohammed Ali Ghafoori, 56, of Millvale, were being held in the Somerset County Jail on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver.
A trooper said he clocked Ms. Turner traveling at 69 mph in a 55 mph zone on the turnpike heading west late Saturday. He followed the car through the Allegheny Tunnel and pulled it over.
He said Ms. Turner's hands were trembling and both she and Mr. Ghafoori appeared nervous. The pair said they had bought "carpet yarn" in New Jersey and were on their way back to Pittsburgh.
After they consented to a search, troopers said, a police dog alerted troopers to heroin, and 101 grams of raw brown tar heroin was recovered.
