Sunday is the 15th Empty Bowls Dinner, where you pay for a simple meal of soup and bread to help the hungry and can keep the bowl.
You can bid until 4 p.m. today on some extraordinary "bowls of the ball" at pittsburghfoodbank.org. Bidding on those continues at the event -- from 2 to 7 p.m. at Rodef Shalom Congregation in Oakland -- where you also can bid on additional bowls and art signed by a range of celebrities, including former Steeler Jerome Bettis; Penguins Max Talbot, Jordan Staal and Eric Godard; rocker Donnie Iris; actor/comedian Jimmy Fallon; and University of Pittsburgh football coach Dave Wannstedt.
Tickets are $20 and all proceeds benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest, a Center for Action Against Hunger. Visit pittsburghfoodbank.org and justharvest.org. Or call 412-431-8960. Tickets also will be available at the door.
