Council is expected to vote tomorrow to approve a nuisance ordinance, which would include removal of boats.

Council also is expected to consider an ordinance to install stop signs at Short Street and Gum Alley, Short Street and Highland Avenue, Cavasina Drive and Bobby Vinton Boulevard and at each end of Zukor Alley. The ordinance also calls for a multi-way stop sign at Route 1027 and North Street.

• Budget meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 and 27 in council chambers in the municipal building. Council is expected to approve a tentative budget in November and the final budget in December.

McDonald

The borough has announced that trick-or-treat will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Council has approved promoting police Officer Dennis Ahlborn to sergeant, effective Friday. Mr. Ahlborn, of Oakdale, was a part-time officer for six years before he was hired full time in September 2007.

He and Chief Mark Dorsey are the only full-time members of the department, which also patrols neighboring Robinson.

• Fire Chief Doug Cooper said the Washington County Redevelopment Authority planned to set a meeting on a study of a possible merger of the McDonald, Robinson, Midway and Mount Pleasant fire departments, in light of state encouragement to consolidate public safety services.
