The Irwin Business and Professionals Association has launched Irwin Magazine, which serves the 144-year-old town plus North Irwin and North Huntingdon.
The 12-page inaugural issue includes excerpts from old newspaper articles, locally written stories and old photos, pictures, postcards and anecdotes.
IBPA Secretary Mike Pochan said: "Since the magazine is designed to capture, display and preserve the words and moments in the rich history of Irwin and its neighboring municipalities, we decided its presentation should coincide with the Norwin School District's 50th anniversary homecoming parade through downtown this Saturday."
The magazine costs $4.99, and plans are for it to be quarterly.
Mr. Pochan said it is a fundraising source to help support IBPA-sponsored events such as the annual downtown Irwin holiday Light Up Night and the Christmas cookie tour.
Irwin Magazine is available at several businesses in downtown and along the Route 30 commercial corridor.
