The Pittsburgh Public Schools will hold a community meeting tonight to discuss changes to Homewood schools.
The meeting, to gather public input, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pittsburgh Westinghouse High School. Discussion will focus on Westinghouse and its feeder schools, Pittsburgh Faison PreK-8 and Pittsburgh Lincoln K-8.
The meeting is part of the districtwide high school improvement process and will be chaired by Derrick Lopez, chief of high school reform. Topics include under-use of the Westinghouse building, which has 335 students but space for 1,000, and related issues, including academics, transportation and the school's difficulty offering athletic programs because of low enrollment.
The district said it will form a committee to come up with a plan for Homewood schools. The plan then would be refined by district officials.
