On the Radar: Things to watch and people to look for in district high school sports

Matt Greiner, Blackhawk

You'll get a kick out of this kid. A 6-foot-2, 165-pound senior, he is the leading scorer on Blackhawk's successful boys' soccer team. On Friday nights, he kicks for Blackhawk's football team and has two field goals so far.

New Castle football team

These Red Hurricanes certainly know how to ruin the perfect evening. For two weeks in a row, New Castle (2-3) has knocked off an undefeated team (Hopewell and West Allegheny). Tonight, it takes on Montour, which has only two losses in the past two years.

Rachel Rohanna, Waynesburg

Is another title on the way for this golfer? The WPIAL girls' championship is Monday at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, and Rohanna, a senior, is trying to win her third title in four years.

Adam West, Greensburg Central Catholic

This goalkeeper protects the soccer net like actor Adam West (the old Batman) protected the Bat Cave. Greensburg Central Catholic had allowed only six goals before yesterday's match against Winchester Thurston.

Shady Side Academy backfield

Is there a better one-two running punch in WPIAL football than Brian Nickel and Roman SanDoval? Both are averaging more than 100 yards a game. Nickel has 692 yards on 82 attempts; SanDoval has 588 on 49 carries for the undefeated Indians (5-0).
