Dr. Otto Graf, clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh Administration and Policy Studies program and co-director of the Principals Academy of Western Pennsylvania, will visit the school district today.
Dr. Graf heads a Pitt Educational Leadership Initiative, which includes schools from the Pine-Richland, Fox Chapel, North Hills, Ellwood City, Upper Saint Clair, Greensburg Salem and South Allegheny districts. He works with school employees to help increase student achievement.
Amy Hvozdik, first grade teacher, and Gail Ungar, K-2 and middle/high school art teacher, attended a teacher residency program at the Pittsburgh Children's Museum this summer. As a result of their participation, about 110 first-graders from the district will attend a free field trip to the museum tomorrow.
Brian Cleary, a 1994 graduate of South Allegheny High School, was one of eight people inducted Sept. 27 to the Robert Morris University Athletic Hall of Fame for 2008.
A native of Glassport, Mr. Cleary earned a bachelor of science in sports communication in 1998 and a master's degree in science, communication and information systems in 2000 from RMU. He also coached football from 1998 to 2001.
Mr. Cleary was a four-year starting outside linebacker and four-year captain of the Robert Morris Colonials football team. Among other honors, he was named an All-Northeast Conference and All-ECAC selection in 1997.
A member of the university's 10th anniversary football team, Mr. Cleary helped lead the Colonials to back-to-back victories in the ECAC Bowl in 1996 and 1997.
He also was a member of RMU's outdoor track and field team.
Mr. Cleary, of Robinson, is a system administrator at ServiceLink in Hopewell.
The RMU Hall of Fame was established in 1991 to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to university athletics.
