A Scottdale man was killed after he lost control of his vehicle and struck an embankment in Fayette County early yesterday morning.

State police from the Belle Vernon barracks said Joseph William Baker Jr. was traveling west along Everson Valley Road at a high rate of speed shortly before 1 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve. Police said when Mr. Baker's car struck an embankment, he was ejected from the vehicle.

Mr. Baker, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant, where he later died.
