Tatum worries about her family; Pitt donates big money; JLo splurges on hubby's birthday
Friday, September 19, 2008
Tatum O'Neal responds to the arrest of her daddy, Ryan, and half brother, Redmond, on drug possession charges telling People mag: "I'm really worried about Redmond. "I want them both to get better and get the help they need -- especially my brother."

You know Tatum's had her own battle with drugs, getting arrested in June for trying to buy cocaine after claiming to have been clean and sober for a while.

Anyway, 67-year-old Ryan and his boy, Redmond, his 23-year-old son with Farrah Fawcett, were arrested Wednesday after police found methamphetamines at their home.

They were released on $10,000 bond each.

Brad Pitt sure puts his money where his causes are.

Big Daddy just donated $100,000 to fight a California proposition to ban gay marriage.

The money went to Californians against Elminating Basic Rights, the group opposed to Proposition 8.

Brad said he contributed to the group "because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it ..." Earlier this week Brad and his boo, Angelina, donated $2 million to fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia.

Since we're talking about money we'll let you know that Jennifer Lopez spent eight times what Brad donated to that California group on the surprise b'day party for her man, Marc Anthony.

JLo reportedly plunked down $800,000 to fete her hubby on the 40th anniversary of his birth.

The party, held in New York, had a Cuban-nightclub theme with showgirls and a casino, reports People.

Earlier in the day, Mrs. Anthony completed a triathalon in Malibu in which she raised $127,000 for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

We'd be exhausted after all that, but just the thought of having enough money to spend 800K on a party would surely rejuvenate us.

Poor Anne Hathaway.

Not like she hasn't had enough problems what with her ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri facing jail and fraud charges and all.

But as a result of all that she doesn't have a place of her own right now. See, they used to share a $37,500 a month duplex in NYC.

Now girlfriend is living with her parents while she looks for a place, reports In Touch Weekly.

We're sure they're glad to have her around. Parents can be a comfort in trying times.

Is little Miley Cyrus ready to move beyond her Hannah Montana persona?

You know we don't know, but N.Y. Daily News reports via Variety that she'll be the star of the upcoming Nicholas Sparks' film.

Sparks is the guy behind the Mandy Moore flick, "A Walk to Remember."

Word is Miley is tired of her alter ego and wants to spread her wings acting-wise.

All we can say is we've seen a few scenes of "Hannah Montana" and little girlfriend is gonna have a lot of stretching to do to be taken seriously as an actress.

Did Keith Sweat call y'all?

He didn't call us either but boyfriend is headed to the 'Burgh next month as part of the promotional tour for his latest album, "Just Me."

Keith will begging uh, we mean performing at the Petersen Events Center Oct. 11.

Ooh, we might have to go get a Jheri curl and a mini sweater dress for the occasion.

The GBB was in the house at a most soulful, bluesy, jazzy gospel-tinged musical marathon called the Steel Songbird Festival the other night in Oakland.

There was a whole host of Pittsburgh stars. Johnny Angel was there, Etta Cox w/Al Dowe, Pam Johnson and her wonderful hubby, Dr. James Johnson, and, of course, their Afro American Institute Boys Choir, the inimitable Dr. Herb Jones with Rose Thompson, Akil Esson, Carolyn Perteete with Alton Merrel, Nelson Harrison, Howie Alexander, Derrick Tynes Mitchell (what a voice), Tim Stevens (charming as always); Sputzy with Greg Macaluso and Juan Vasquez among others.

We want to thank the beautiful and talented Jessica Lee for inviting us to this celebration of American vocal music.

Proceeds benefited the youth programs at America's Music Crossroads Center & AAMI.

Keep the music alive!
