City school board votes to merge middle and high schools
Wednesday, July 23, 2008

The city school board voted 6-3 tonight to merge middle-grade and high school arts schools beginning in fall 2009.

Pittsburgh Rogers 6-8 will move out of its building in Garfield and move into the Downtown building housing the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts.

Some parents had opposed the merger, claiming there wouldn't be enough space for both schools and citing concerns about mixing middle-grade and high school students.
