One dead in Westmoreland County truck crash

A pick-up truck driver was killed this morning when his vehicle crashed in Derry Township, Westmoreland County and caught fire.

State Police said the accident occurred about 3:25 a.m.

According to police, the 1985 Chevrolet S-10 truck failed to negotiate a turn on Route 982, traveled across both lanes of traffic, hit a small embankment and then two trees before catching fire.

Identification of the victim is pending and the investigation is continuing.
