A Beaver County motorist died in a crash Friday after eyewitnesses reported that he appeared to have been in distress before the collisions.
Carl Boughner, 78, of Midland, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:50 p.m. Friday, minutes after his car struck two other vehicles, including a tri-axle dump truck, Beaver County Deputy Coroner William Pasquale said.
Mr. Boughner had been driving in traffic inthe 1100 block of Midland Avenue when he appeared to have suffered some type of problem.
His car struck the rear end of another car before he veered into oncoming traffic, Mr. Pasquale said.
The Boughner car and the dump truck collided head-on.
Mr. Boughner died of trauma of the head, Mr. Pasquale said. No other injuries were reported.
The coroner's office said it found no pre-existing medical condition that might have caused him to lose control.
