Oakdale street fair
The Oakdale Hose Company's annual street fair opens with a performance at 7 p.m. Saturday by Vintage Buzz in the borough parking lot, 5300 Noblestown Road.
There will be games, food, beverages and entertainment throughout the fair, which benefits the fire department. Entertainment at 7 p.m. each day also will feature Shelly Duff Band on Monday, Hell Cat on Tuesday, Hedge Band on Wednesday, Dave Iglar Band on July 24, Buddy Sharp and the Shakers on July 25 and Zar on July 26.
Also, there will be a parade on July 25.

Task force on the Web
A task force examining the reuse of Mayview State Hospital has created a Web site with meeting agendas, minutes and other information about the status of the hospital closing and future use of the property on the South Fayette-Upper St. Clair border.

Community bake-off
The Ingram Civic Club is sponsoring a bake-off Sunday during Ingram Days with judging for cakes, pies and other items such as cookies and cobblers in Ingram Park, Foster Avenue.
There is no entry fee and winners will received ribbons in various categories. Entries must not need refrigeration for at least one hour.
Items can be dropped off before 1 p.m. with judging to begin at 2. Participants should make two items -- one for judging and another to be sold as a fund-raiser.

Constitution Boulevard, Darlington -- Patching between the Ohio line and McKinley Road.
Dutch Ridge Road, Brighton -- Seal coat between Tuscarawas and Park roads; patching between Tuscarawas and Brighton roads.
Gas Valley Road, Hanover -- Patching between Hookstown Frankfort Road and the West Virginia line.
Hardins Run Road, Hanover -- Patching between Hookstown Frankfort Road and the West Virginia line.
Hollow Road, Darlington -- Cross pipe between Bradford Road and the Lawrence County line.

Geneva enrollment is rising
Geneva College is on target to exceed its enrollment goal for the second year in a row. As of this month, 450 new students have committed to enroll, meaning a 10 percent increase from last year and a 20 percent increase from 2006-07.
While a majority of the new students are coming to Geneva from southwestern Pennsylvania, the college is drawing increasing numbers of students from the center of the state and Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland. Students are coming from 27 states and several foreign countries such as Cyprus and Nigeria.
