SPECIAL NOTES
Buckle Up -- Tomorrow is Buckle Up Pennsylvania Day, a reminder that motorists should use seat belts. More than 400 local police departments and state police will start a "Click it or Ticket" campaign to run through June 1.
I-79 tourism event -- Daily events 10 a.m.-2 p.m. through next Sunday at PennDOT's Welcome Center along I-79 north of West Virginia border. Part of National Tourism Week 2008.
Wings Over Pittsburgh -- Port Authority running buses to Pittsburgh International Airport for the air show every 15 minutes, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. today, with return trips starting at 5 p.m. Information at www.portauthority.org. The "28A Wings Over Pittsburgh Flyer" buses operating along Liberty Avenue and making all West Busway stops except Carnegie Station.
INTERSTATES
I-70, Washington County -- Paving eastbound direction between I-79 north and south junctions, 8 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weather permitting.
I-79, Allegheny County -- Traffic being maintained in both directions on the northbound lanes over the 6.6-mile reconstruction zone between the Ohio River and I-279 Junction, Franklin Park. I-79 south exit ramp to Mount Nebo Road closed through early June.
Beginning tomorrow, the far right lane on I-79 north at Bridgeville Interchange will be closed through mid-July for work on the new acceleration ramp from Route 50. Two northbound lanes will remain open.
I-279 to North Hills -- PennDOT to start $11.3 million, eight-mile rehabilitation between East Ohio Street and Camp Horne Road interchange May 27. Restrictions will begin on HOV lanes near McKnight Road. Future mainline lane closings and shifts to be announced.
I-376, Parkway East -- Single- and double-lane outbound lane restrictions and two exit ramp closings to be lifted no later than 5 a.m. tomorrow in the three-mile work zone between Churchill and Edgewood-Swissvale interchange. Overnight lane restrictions on weekdays.
I-579, Pittsburgh -- No work this weekend because of weather and Penguins playoff games at Mellon Arena.
STATE HIGHWAYS
Business Route 22, Monroeville/Wilkins -- Intermittent lane closures 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and 8 p.m.-6 a.m. most weeknights through fall for resurfacing.
Route 22, Westmoreland County -- Separate widening projects east of Murrysville and east of New Alexandria mean lane closures and other disruptions for 2008 construction season.
Route 28, Allegheny Valley -- Northbound single lane closures. Contractor paving southbound from Pittsburgh Mills to Route 910 interchange. Stoppages in Harmar at 8 a.m. Saturday mornings for blasting, weather permitting. TV surveillance view of rockfall area on the Web at www.sr28a44project.com.
OTHER ROADS
Boulevard of the Allies, Oakland -- Single lane inbound until 5 p.m. today as contractor prepares for resurfacing. Closed outbound east of the Parkway East entrance for interchange reconstruction. Forbes Avenue down to a single lane into Oakland.
Center Avenue, New Stanton -- New roadway and bridge between Arona Road and UPS are completed. Work on the $8.3 million project shifting to Old Center Avenue off I-70.
Lovedale Road, Lincoln -- After announcing the closing for bridge construction, PennDOT has decided to postpone the work until mid-June because so many school buses travel Lovedale Road.
Lower McArdle Roadway -- Closed between the South Side and Windom Street, below the Liberty Tunnels, 9 a.m. tomorrow through 4 p.m. Wednesday while engineers do test borings. Local traffic only to and from Arlington Avenue.
Penn Avenue, East Liberty -- PennDOT begins $3.1 million improvement tomorrow on 1.2 miles of Penn Avenue, between Penn Circle and Fifth Avenue, and Fifth Avenue north to Frankstown Avenue. For now, restrictions will be on parking lanes.
South Main Street, West End -- Block-long stretch that's also Route 60 closed for roadway relocation and to build new bridge to Steuben Street. Posted detours use Alexander and Dumas streets.
MAJOR BRIDGES
Birmingham Bridge -- One lane maintained in both directions, on the southbound side. Northbound side closed while rocker bearings are replaced.
PORT AUTHORITY
Market Square changes -- Twenty-one bus routes will be rerouted from Market Square on May 15. These routes and associated stops will be moved: 51E, 58C, 58P, 58V, 61A, 61B, 61C, 61D, 61F, 67A, 67C, 67E, 67F, 67H, 66J, 68F, 68J, 71A, 71C, 71D and EBS Short.
