Funds roll in for science complex at St. Vincent
Saturday, May 10, 2008

Donations are rolling in for St. Vincent College's new $40 million Sis and Herman Dupre Science Complex.

The college announced yesterday that the Richard King Mellon Foundation was contributing $7 million to the project -- the school's largest-ever gift from a foundation, said President Jim Towey.

"We are delighted that they would make such a large investment in our little college," said Mr. Towey. "It's a show of confidence, and we'll make them proud."

The science complex project is scheduled to be completed in 2011, with ground breaking in 2009.

The school announced the construction of the complex last week, also funded by a $7.6 million gift from Sis and Herman Dupre and their friends and family.
