Saturday, May 10, 2008

The Renaissance & Baroque Society of Pittsburgh has hired Elizabeth Etter as executive director. She will draw on both sides of her career to lead the early-music presenting society. She trained as a harpsichordist and fortepianist and she founded and directed music organizations, including the Summer Music Festival at Allegheny College, of which she is an alumna.

"Beth brings the total package: Performing musician with impressive knowledge of and commitment to early music, and impresario with demonstrated success in planning and executing a concert series," said Robert Johnson, president of the R&B board.

Etter has a doctorate in harpsichord performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
