Port Authority shuttle set for Wings Over Pittsburgh
Friday, May 09, 2008

Because of heavy traffic anticipated for this weekend's Wings Over Pittsburgh air show at Pittsburgh International Airport, the Port Authority will provide buses to the event tomorrow and Sunday.

The "28A Wings Over Pittsburgh Flyer" bus route will leave for the airport every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days, starting at Penn Station at the Downtown end of the Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway.

The buses will stop on Grant Street at the Federal Building; Seventh Avenue at Smithfield Street; along Liberty Avenue at 10th Street, Seventh Street, Sixth Street and Seventh Avenue; on Penn Avenue at Stanwix Street; on West Carson Street at the Duquesne Incline; and all West Busway stops except Carnegie Station.

The one-way cash fare for the trip to the air show entry gate will be $2.60. Passes will be honored and senior citizens can ride for free.

Return service will operate through 12:45 p.m. each day and then resume at 5 p.m. when the show concludes.

In addition, the Port Authority's large park-n-ride lot will be open on University Boulevard, across from the old airport site, where military buses will shuttle people to the event.

People driving to the event are advised to expect heavy traffic at peak times and high demand for parking places.
