Reality TV: Fierce and major Christian Siriano
Friday, March 07, 2008

Not only is he fierce, he's major! With the backing of guest judge Victoria Beckham, Christian Siriano is crowned the winner of Bravo's "Project Runway." With his bold, brave, fabulous, but not exactly practical collection, the youngest "Runway" winner at age 21 tops Jillian Lewis' sexy, wearable line and Rami Kashou's elegant pieces to take the prize home to Annapolis, Md. Christian wins a spread in Elle magazine, a 2008 Saturn Astra, the opportunity to sell his clothing line on Bluefly.com, a year of representation from Designers Management Agency and $100,000. More importantly, Siriano now has a fan in Beckham. "You really made me smile, and it's not easy to make me smile," she tells him during judging. Right before Christian is named champion, the normally cocky designer is nervous and in tears. It's such an emotional moment, the entire judges' panel looks misty-eyed, even icy Nina Garcia. But once host Heidi Klum calls him "uber-fierce," the old Christian is back. "I am the youngest winner of 'Project Runway' ever, it's crazy!" he smiles. "But hello, did you have a doubt? Come on. What up!"

The big twist shocks the house this week on "Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part." Head of Household Joshuah & Sharon put Ryan & Allison and Matt & Natalie on the chopping block. Matt & Natalie -- whose relationship is on the rocks since she likes him more than he likes her -- pull it together to win the Power of Veto to save themselves, meaning Adam & Sheila are put up in their place. Ryan & Allison are voted out anyway, 2 to 0, but not so fast. The ominous sirens blare and the front door locks so Ryan & Allison can't get out. Host Julie Chen announces the twist -- the couples are officially broken up and it's every HouseGuest for himself. The hated Allison is so excited she's shaking and crying, but once she finds out the HouseGuests must immediately vote out either she or Ryan, she knows she's doomed. Allison's evicted, 6 to 0, over Ryan, and Julie asks her just how big of a mistake was it that she and Sheila pretended to be a lesbian couple outside of the house. Allison again says it was all a big joke, but everyone knows it's a lie gone bad. "I didn't come into this game to hurt anybody or do anything that was hurtful to anybody, but sometimes indirectly that happens," Allison cries. Whatever -- I don't think she made any friends in that house. Ryan bounces back big time and wins the new, single Head of Household.

Another twist is on the way -- one of the evicted HouseGuests will return, and it's up to viewers to vote in Jacob, Jen, Parker, Amanda, Max or Allison. Ryan's girlfriend, Jen, would be great for drama, but I think the viewers will go with her former partner, Parker, who was unfairly eliminated earlier this season, or with bubbly, hot Amanda because she manages to be lovable and annoying all at once.

"Big Brother" airs Sunday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 9 p.m. on CBS.

I'm usually not a big fan of clip shows, but the "Rob & Big" mid-season recap is a riot. Rob's top moments of the season include the silly Enrique Iglesias karaoke car wash scene, the "Special Buddies" cereal box shoot and of course, Netty the net gun -- Rob's season three obsession. "Every single time that net gun fires, it brings absolute and total joy to my heart," he reminisces. Somehow, watching Rob shoot a net at his friends, his bodyguard and even his bulldog never gets old. Rob and Big also declare Meaty the dog their best pet -- he skateboards; wears wigs, hats, sunglasses and shirts; and gives sloppy kisses. And while the guys love Mini-Horse (well, at least Rob loves him), he's named worst pet. I can't blame them; Mini-Horse relieves himself on the rug, head-butts the camera, bit Rob's rear end and Meaty's ear and leaves an unwelcome present in the car. A preview of the second half of the season looks promising -- Rob gets arrested in front of his wholesome parents and Big shows off his larger-than-life wrestling moves.

"Rob & Big" airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. on MTV.

Channel surfing

On "Rock of Love 2," Bret Michaels' sexy seven perform routines at the "Bret Michaels Rockin' U.S.O.ish Style Show" for veterans. Megan and Jessica win the competition with their Hula Hoops for Our Troops routine. I'm shocked ditzy Megan is able to memorize the Preamble to the Constitution, and while she fumbles a few words, her stars-and-stripes bikini makes up for it. Bret has dinner with his babes and Ambre calls out her roommate, Kristy Joe, for being the outcast. Kristy Joe knows everyone dislikes her and starts packing her bags, but Bret intervenes and tells her she's just confusing everyone. Ambre apologizes to her roommie, but Kristy Joe doesn't care. Bret keeps her around another week for more drama. Inna's sent home, mostly because her connection with Bret fizzled out, plus she was rude to one of the U.S.O. performers.

"Rock of Love 2" airs Monday at 1:30 and 7 p.m., and midnight on VH1.

On "The Girls Next Door," Bridgette and Kendra take their Bunny friends for a fun day at a water park, while Heidi stays home and finally learns to swim. Then Bridgette throws a beach party, where world champion surfer Kelly Slater teaches the girls how to hang 10. Later that night, the margarita machine kicks into high gear and the Twister competition begins. "Aren't you supposed to play this game nude?" Hef jokes. He even tries to limbo! Kendra doesn't let her surgically enhanced chest get in the way of winning the limbo contest, unlike the other Playmates. The night is capped off by s'mores over the bonfire.

"The Girls Next Door" airs Sunday at 10 p.m. on E!.

On "My Fair Brady -- Maybe Baby?" Adrianne goes through with her breast augmentation surgery, meaning baby plans are on hold, for now. "I'm going to enjoy these, make some money off them and then have babies," Adrianne says. Her best friend, Dea, visits and they bond over lunch. Dea's ready to have a baby, which Chris hopes will rub off on Adrianne. The couple's going to Hawaii in the next episode. But will she get pregnant?

"My Fair Brady" airs at 11:30 a.m., 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Monday on VH1.

On "Scott Baio is 46... & Pregnant," Scott says wedding planning and childcare are bringing him down. He returns to the Daddies to Be class, where he learns he needs to lighten up. So he hits the racetrack with his pals, only to discover his wild days are over. "It was kind of hard to enjoy myself. All I could see in the rearview mirror is little Bailey in her baby seat," Scott admits. Then he finds deadbeat friend Johnny V. at the gentlemen's club having lunch before noon where it hits him -- he should be happy those days are over. He realizes maybe being a dad isn't so bad after all, and goes home to sing his daughter to sleep.

"Scott Baio" airs Sunday at 11 a.m., 10 p.m. and midnight on VH1.

On last week's "Celebrity Apprentice," the final seven created a Dial soap advertising campaign for Redbook magazine. Carol Alt leads Hydra to a win, as the model is the star of the magazine spread. While their design is a little racy -- what's with the male model biting Carol's shoulder? -- they take a risk, unlike Empresario. They take advantage of having Trace Adkins on the team and feature him in their ad, but Stephen Baldwin convinces Empresario Project Manager Tito Ortiz to nix the shirtless Trace photo, which is Omarosa's idea. Wow, for once she's right! Donald Trump reluctantly axes MMA fighter Tito. "You are really special," Trump tells Tito. "I think you're so incredible that personally, out of my own account, I'm going to give you $50,000 for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. ... I want to watch you do things beyond the fighting because, boy, do you have talent."

"Celebrity Apprentice" airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Crybaby of the Week

... is Alaina Whitaker, one of two girls eliminated on last week's "American Idol." The 16-year-old breaks down in tears when she hears the bad news. She even admits her crying fit is a little embarrassing, considering millions of home viewers are watching. But I can't blame the 17-year-old for her emotions; standing on the "Idol" stage, facing elimination must be tough. I'm impressed Alaina's brave enough to sing "Hopelessly Devoted to You" one last time.
