Pittsburgh is situated in picturesque Southwestern Pennsylvania, at the point where the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers meet to form the Ohio River. Steep, green hills and valleys are characteristic of the area. While this varied topography offers transportation challenges, residents are able to get from one place to another with great ease. Located nearby is the Pennsylvania Turnpike, connecting Pittsburgh with Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Cleveland, and points beyond.

Port Authority of Allegheny County is the 15th largest public transportation system in the country. Included in this system are more than 200 bus routes that connect suburban Pittsburgh to the city. The Port Authority also has a subway, called the “T,” which allows for a fast commute to Downtown and is free of charge if riding inside the Downtown area. The most unique components of the Pittsburgh public transportation system are the Duquesne and Monongahela inclines, which are not only the main source of transportation for many residents who live atop Mt. Washington, but are popular tourist attractions as well.
